In the sessions co-taught by Cleveland Opera Theater and Refresh Collective, students will
1) learn how storytelling through music has evolved over the past 400 years,
2) learn how hip-hop artists use technology and sampling in their work, and
3) will create their own beats and lyrics to record in a video at the end of the program.
The program is scheduled September 29 – October 22, 2020 to allow students to submit their finished recordings to iN Education’s Battle of the Teal, “an annual, action-packed art program that showcases the hard work and dedication of visual and performing artists. As an outcome of our year-round promotion of the arts, this program builds a platform for young, emerging artists who wish to develop in the arts of their selected form, boost their confidence levels, and experience what it’s like to present their masterpieces and/or themselves in front of a live audience!”
