The Akron Symphony Orchestra announces auditions for a concert version of Leonard Bernstein’s WEST SIDE STORY, to be performed on May 4, 2019, at 8 p.m. at The University of Akron’s E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall.

Initial auditions will take place on September 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 263 East Mill Street, in Akron. Callbacks, as necessary, will be held on September 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 

All roles paid. Equity contracts available, if needed. An ethnically diverse cast is desired.

Rehearsals will begin in early April, with a few music rehearsals a week, and will increase in frequency the week prior to May 4th for light staging and tech.

Available roles are as follows:

D - This character speaks dialogue.

S - This character sings solo portions.

T - This character sings as part of a group.

· E-mail director Craig Joseph at craigjose@gmail.com to set up an appointment. If you have a digital version of a headshot and resume, please include that in your submission. If not, no worries.

· Prepare 32 bars of music from a musical of your choice. Please bring sheet music for an accompanist who will be available to you at auditions.

· Also, please bring your calendar to auditions, as we will be asking you about scheduling conflicts.
