Actor-Readers needed for a new adaptation of H.G. Wells' ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU - 6:30 pm June 11th CPT's Dark Room (Plus one Rehearsal-tba)

This version uses "Double Casting" with the staff & patients of the Mental Asylum where the survivor, Edward Pendrake is incarcerated acting out the hero's story.  (The original "Edward Prendick" seemed a bit much)

We Need:
H.G. Wells / Dr. Montgomery = Young Novelist in early carrer / Disgraced alcoholic assistant to Dr. Moreau

Asylum Director / Dr. Moreau = Imperious older Bureaucrat / Obsessed scientific genius and tyrant

Edward Pendrake = Young shipwreck survivor driven mad by misfortunes and horror

Asylum Clerk / M'Ling = Underling to Asylum Director / Bestial servant to Moreau & Montgomery

Female Patient / Lota = Young mental patient / Seductive "ward" of Dr. Moreau

Asylum Guards / Sailors / Beast People = Large Men threatening as humans and Beast People

Patients / Crewmen / Beast People = Males & Females with distinctive looks and behaviors as Humans & Beast People

Narrator = To set the scenes & stage directions impossible to do in reading

No memorization involved-only a ten page section of the play-but we will attempt limited movement, characterization, etc. Accents optional.
