Now hiring Teaching Artists for the 2026-2027 School Year – Positions are part-time during school day hours.

Dancing Classrooms is our premier program offering. The Dancing Classrooms program is a 10-week, 20-session residency program that uses ballroom dancing as a vehicle to change the lives of not only the children who participate in the program but also the lives of the teachers and caregivers who support these children. Dancing Classrooms is not about teaching dance. The dance is a “tool” for getting the children to break down social and cultural barriers, while working together to achieve a common goal. A Teaching Artists (TAs) has the following character traits:

• The belief that every child can learn and excel.
• A passion for dance and creative expression that is contagious among children.
• Self-confidence in their artistic abilities.
• High expectations for what every child can achieve through the program.
• An ability to express them self verbally in a manner that captivates attention.
• The ability to manage classroom behavior(s).
• Flexibility and a good sense of humor.

We are seeking individuals that:

• Have experience working with 5th and/or 8th grade children in a classroom setting.
• Have a dance/theater/creative background - not necessarily as a professional.
• Can commit to part-time work two days of the week (Monday-Friday), during the day, for approximately 13 weeks during the school year.
• Have dependable transportation (TAs commute to a variety of schools, primarily in Cuyahoga County).
• Able to pass a BCI & FBI background check.

DCNEO Teaching Artists are: actors, dancers, and individuals who can move with rhythm; have excellent interpersonal skills, enjoy working with children; are able to work in-person in a school classroom setting; have a generous spirit, a sense of humor, and willingness to travel to schools throughout Northeast Ohio (primarily Cuyahoga County county).

Employment: Upon employment, all TAs are fingerprinted annually with the State of Ohio. TAs are paid on an hourly basis ($30-$35/hour) as seasonal, part-time employees. Employment is during the school year, on school days, between the hours of 7:30am - 4:00pm.

Requirements: All applicants must be available to attend an initial paid training on August 3-7, 2026 from 9:00am - 3:00pm in Broadview Heights. Training commitment is non-negotiable, please do not apply if you're unable to fulfill the training commitment.

Upon successful training, TAs make a solid commitment to a sequential 10-week residency, two days per week, in person during the hours of 7:30am - 4:00pm. All school assignments are made based on TAs availability submitted to DCNEO staff.
