Genesis is looking for Choreographers for Adult/Children Workshops & 2023-2024 Theatre Season

Genesis Choreographer’s overall purpose is to work directly with the director, cast, and production staff to move a show from inception to closing. The choreographer agrees to choreograph dances and all responsibilities as listed for children and adults and any Genesis special events. The duties may be carried out in person or virtually.

The Choreographer agrees to be present for a minimum of 1 performance in person.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.       Creating new dances, and designing dance moves, sequences, and routines for performances.

2.      Directing rehearsals.

3.      Auditioning dancers/students.

4.     Collaborating with the music, design, and costume departments to assist with the artistic aspects of a show.

5.      Deep understanding of different styles of dance and music as well as the ability to communicate their vision effectively to dancers, young students, and other collaborators.

6.      Providing training and support to all dancers.

7.       voice development, and dialects, using voice exercises, speech drills, explanation, lectures, and improvisation.

8.      Plan and prepare courses and lessons that reflect the requirements of the scheme of work.

9.      Willing to participate in trauma-informed training and social-emotional learning.

10.  Collaborate with diverse populations and across disciplines.

11.    Commitment to anti-racism and a diverse, inclusive workplace
