Dear Potential Director, 

Workshop Players Theater is the oldest theatre-in-the-round in the state of Ohio.  We are very proud of that, just as we are proud of the fact that for our history we have been an all volunteer theater.  We do it because we love it. We hope that you  may be of the same mind and would like to apply to direct in our 2026-2027 season.  It may seem odd to be planning that far ahead, but we have found that doing so allows us most optimally to select balanced seasons. 

In 2025-2026 we will be producing a musical (Spitfire Grill), a Christmas show ( Christmas  Belles), a romantic comedy (Same Time Next Year), a classic (Harvey) and will end with a comedic, yet dramatic Neil Simon (Chapter  Two).   Directing will be a combination of “regulars” and three who are new to our theater.  We hope that you may be interested in joining our ranks of directors in 2026-2027. 

More than anything, It is our focus to entertain!!!

THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IS AUGUST 1, 2025

If you submit musicals, please also include some straight plays as we will do no more than one musical a year and submitted  both genres would enhance your chance of being  selected as a director. 

We especially welcome Christmas  plays. 

Please do note that our backstage space is limited and that we cannot accommodate major set pieces for changes.   

*if you have not directed with us before, please include a theatrical resume 

*Submit 4-5 plays that you would be interested in directing at Workshop, along with synopsis of the play (may be copied and pasted from licensing agent). 

*Give a brief summary of why you believe the play would be effective in our unique theater-in-the-round space. 

*Please be prepared to have at least one copy of each script available for the play reading committee should you be selected as one of the directors.
