Sunday, April 12th

Spring is a time when schools do their big productions of classic musicals.  Some of these iconic stories told onstage were immortalized on film.  Whether it be in the classic playhouses, the local community theater or the comfort of your own home with a DVD and some buttered popcorn, musicals were and still are a huge part of American culture. This Sunday the TrueNorth Big Band presents music from some of the greatest musicals including Porgy & Bess, Anything Goes and Brigadoon.  Well-loved tunes from Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Steven Sondheim will help usher in the wonderful season of spring.  We will feature the vocal stylings of trumpeter and fan of all things Sinatra, Doug James.  Sharing the stage with him will be the one and only Rick Fortney, Founder and Executive Director of TrueNorth Cultural Arts, singing an old standard from the not-so-old movie When Harry Met Sally.  Finally, we are excited to have the fantastically talented Laura Varcho share her love of showtunes as well.
