Job Description

Position Overview: Aurora United Methodist Church is seeking an individual to develop and lead the church’s musical ministries. The appropriate person will be both a spiritual and organizational leader; someone who can envision and create music in accordance to the church’s mission, which is to “Love God, Love Others, and Bring People to Christ.”

Responsibilities

Coordinate the music for all regularly scheduled Sunday morning services as well as a limited number of special services (e.g., Advent, Lenten services).

· Schedule routine rehearsals with all members involved in the music ministry.

· Formulate and develop a praise team.

· Consult regularly with the Worship Committee and/or Pastor in effort to evaluate, enhance, and support the music ministry.

· Provide ample opportunities for the children of the church to engage in music ministry.

Qualifications:

· A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and the ability to use and create music to strengthen the faith of others.

· Experience in collaborating with vocalists and musicians at varying degrees of skill.

· Proficiency in playing piano (preferred) and/or guitar with the ability to lead while playing.

· Strong vocal skills.

· A willingness to recruit volunteers in all areas of music ministry as well as nurturing talent in all age groups.

· The ability to lead worship that transcends modern, contemporary and traditional genres.

· An enthusiastic presence and the necessary relational skills for leading worship.

The role of the Worship Leader is ultimately to ensure that the congregation has an opportunity for an authentic encounter with God’s presence.
