The Akron Symphony announces auditions for a concert version of Leonard Bernstein’s WEST SIDE STORY, to be performed on May 4, 2019 at 8 PM at EJ Thomas Hall in Akron.

Initial auditions will take place on Saturday, September 22nd, from 11 AM - 3 PM at First United Methodist Church, 263 E. Mill Street, in Akron. Callbacks, as necessary, will be held on Monday, September 24th, from 6 - 9 PM at the same location.

All roles paid; Equity contracts available, if needed. An ethnically diverse cast is desired.

Rehearsals will begin in early April, with a few music rehearsals a week, and will increase in frequency the week prior to May 4th for light staging and tech.

Available roles are as follows:

D - This character speaks dialogue.

S - This character sings solo portions.

T - This character sings as part of a group.

• Prepare 32 bars of music from a musical of your choice. Please bring sheet music for an accompanist who will be available to you at auditions.
• Also, please bring your calendar to auditions, as we will be asking you about scheduling conflicts.
