The Akron All-City Musical is seeking talented high school musicians to join the pit orchestra for our upcoming production of Newsies! This opportunity is open to incoming freshmen through graduating seniors.

Updated Audition Details:

New Date: Saturday, March 30th

Time: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

New Location: Goodyear Theatre

The pit will be under the direction of Victor Anstine.

Instruments Needed:

Reeds: Alto Sax & Soprano Sax, Flute & Piccolo, Bassoon, Clarinet

Brass: Trumpet & Flugelhorn, Trombone & Bass Trombone

Strings: Violin, Cello, Bass (upright or electric)

Rhythm Section: Guitar (acoustic and electric), Keyboard/Piano

Percussion: Drums/Percussion

Audition Requirements:

Prepare two (2) excerpts, each 2-3 minutes in length, that best showcase your musical ability.

You will also be asked to sight-read a cut from the Newsies score during your audition.

Rehearsal Schedule:

Rehearsals begin April 27 and will be held:

• Sundays: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM

• Thursdays: 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Tech Week & Performance Dates:

Tech Week: June 8 – June 13

Show Dates: June 14 (2:30 pm and 7 pm) & 15 (2:30 pm)

This is an exciting opportunity to perform alongside other talented young musicians in a professional-quality production on a historic stage.
