ABOUT THE PLAY

Waiting on Godot was inspired by the author's noticing how many folk say "waiting on" when he would say "waiting for". A potential Waiting on Godot, rather than Waiting for Godot, sounded to him as though the play might take place in a restaurant. And so our play does indeed take place at "Chez Lucky", a modest eatery where Godot finally does show up, and where he causes some confusion by placing an unusual dinner order with the staff.

Robert Hawkes appears as Godot; David L. Munnell and Kim Woodworth wait on him; Nate Homolka and Jaclyn Czifranics have been waiting for him elsewhere. Our play runs something over half an hour. It is light and humorous in mood, though it implies a few "deep" questions for those in the mood. The play evoked enthusiastic response in a cold reading at Cleveland Public Theatre's Dark Room.
