History and Music at Historic League Park
Cleveland, OH, May 25, 2017– The Baseball Heritage Museum, located at 6601 Lexington Ave,
announces First Saturdays, unique programming that will embrace the multilayered history of its
League Park location. First Saturdays will combine a presentation on baseball with activities and music
on the beautiful outdoor plaza. First Saturdays will begin Saturday June 3 at 10:30 am with Speaking
for League Park: Cleveland’s Magnificent Seven, Cleveland Negro Leaguers to the Majors. Come learn
the impact and influence Negro League Baseball had on the economic, social and family life in Cleveland
between the 1920s and the 1950s.  Presenter Ike Brooks will also highlight the seven men who made the
transition to Major League baseball from the Negro League teams representing Cleveland between 1922
and 1950. Following the program, thanks to a partnership with Roots of American Music (ROAM) and its
Community Concerts series, visitors can enjoy a ROAM activity beginning at 11 am followed by
electric blues, soul and rock from The Sam Hooper Band from noon to 2 pm. League Park has a
history as a destination location and center of neighborhood activity, and First Saturdays will revive that
tradition. All events are free and open to the public thanks to the support of Cuyahoga Arts and Culture
for Speaking for League Park and the Cleveland Foundation for Community Concerts. More on First
Saturdays, and all our programming is available at www.baseballheritagemuseum.org.
