About the Palace:
In the town of Lorain, Ohio, located just west of Cleveland, the 1,720-seat Lorain Palace Theatre first opened its doors in 1928. It was the first motion picture theater in Ohio to show a talking motion picture. The opening night film, and first talky played in Ohio was a pre-release of Paramount’s "Something Always Happens" starring Neil Hamilton and Esther Ralston. Today it serves as a community Civic Center, movie theatre, meeting place and entertainment facility. The crystal chandelier, Wurlitzer pipe organ (one of only four remaining in theaters across Ohio), and two spacious loges are just some of the features, which made this building worthy of being preserved.
Summary:
The theatre manager reports to and will assist the Palace Manager with their daily duties to help maintain, use and facilitate the daily functions of the theater. The Theatre Manager will work with their counter part to ensure that equipment is functioning, that dressing rooms and the stage is clean and ready to use, and help run and program live shows. The ideal candidate should have a love for live theatre with knowledge in sound, lighting and carpentry skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Education Required:
High School Diploma
BFA or BA in technical theatre preferred
Experience Required:
2 years in a
management position at a professional theatre
or
3 years in a production position with management responsibilities working in professional theatre
