A virtual search for directors began in Cincinnati and quickly disseminated to Central and Northern Ohio then traveled to the East and West coasts. Directors from VA, CA, PA, WI, and OH applied to direct Equality Production's female-focused plays. 

S-heroes and talented theater professionals, Dee Anne Bryll and Tara Williams, were generous with their time in interviewing and selecting the directors.

Cleo DeOrio (she/her) is a Physical Theatre and Dance artist and teacher. She received her Bachelor's in Directing and Choreography at Baldwin Wallace University and a Master's degree from Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre. Cleo specializes in storytelling through movement and devised physical theatre.

Casey Venema is a freelance actor, director, and devisor focused on experimental work that uplifts marginalized voices. She is also the Co-executive Director of Nightbloom Theatre Co., an ensemble dedicated to strengthening the Cleveland theatre community by providing a significant artistic opportunity to emerging artists.

Lana Sugarman is a director, actor, and theatre educator based in Northeast Ohio with an MFA in Acting from Kent State University. Recent directing credits include John Patrick Shanley’s A Lonely Impulse of Delight, and the Canadian play Tuesdays and Sundays. Lana is thrilled to be diving into this fierce feminist comedy with the team at Equality Productions!
