Greetings! I'm the host of Circle Round: the kids and family folktales podcast from WBUR, Boston's NPR station!
I'm also a Cleveland native who grew up enjoying theater in wonderful Northeast Ohio.
With 1.5M monthly downloads in all 50 states and 150+ countries, Circle Round adapts age-old folktales as audio plays for modern audiences. Over the past few years, we've criss-crossed the US, recording live episodes in California, Washington state, Oregon,
Minnesota, Illinois, Colorado, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Maryland and New York. Our Mar. 14 show marks our Ohio debut!
Our folktales feature all sorts of characters, so we're seeking performers ages 25 and up who (a) have a wide range, and (b) aren't shy about letting loose and being bold and playful on stage. Since
the origins of our folktales are so diverse, we're seeking actors with wide-ranging diversity as well.
The time commitment on Mar. 14 would be roughly 11am-2pm: we'll rehearse around 11am and perform/record at 1pm. We're able to provide
each performer with a stipend of $250, along with meals and a set of comps. As with a staged reading, actors will be reading from scripts on stage: no blocking, no choreography, no frills!
For the audition, we would provide interested performers with a set of sides, and ask them to record a handful of lines using whatever recording device they have on hand. They would send the audio using whatever method they prefer: email, Google Drive,
Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc.
