open auditions for the role of ZENON in Dobama’s production of THE
REVISIONIST by Jesse Eisenberg

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION:
ZENON
- A
Polish vodka-swilling taxi driver in his mid to late 40s. Bear-like or stocky
in appearance; somewhat rough, but with a heart of gold. Role calls for
Polish language and English with a Polish dialect. His relationship with Maria
(a Holocaust survivor in her 70’s) is very much that of mother and adopted son.

Play synopsis: Young writer David
arrives in Poland with a crippling case of writer’s block and a desire to be
left alone. His seventy-five-year-old second cousin Maria welcomes him with a
fervent need to connect with her distant American family. As their relationship
develops, she reveals details about her postwar past that test their ideas of
what it means to be a family.
