Theater Instructor - Part Time
Solon Center for the Arts has an opening for a part-time Theater Instructor and Youth Theater Director, not to exceed 28 hours per week.
Qualified Applicants must have completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater or Theater Education from an accredited institution or have related work experience equivalent to such a degree. Graduate experience and knowledge of Technical Theater a plus. Interested applicants must have a minimum of two years teaching and/or directing Youth Theater experience (within the last five years). Responsibilities also include lesson creation, planning, preparation, instruction and directing youth/intergeneration productions. This position involves possible daytime, evening and weekend hours beginning the winter 2019. The hourly rate is based upon experience and qualifications.
Candidates for this position will work closely with the Theater Coordinator and must be able to work with students of all ages and skill levels. Applicants must display a professional demeanor at all times and possess leadership qualities in and out of the classroom. In addition, the applicant should possess excellent problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills. Applicants must be able to work in a team environment.

Theater Department Coordinator - Full Time
The City of Solon Center for the Arts is currently accepting applications for a full time Theater Department Coordinator. Applicants must be organized, a leader, a team player and a creative thinker. Programs range from small workshops to full theater productions. Previous experience with youth theater programs is preferred. This position will report directly to the Manager and requires the ability to work flexible hours including days, nights and multiple weekends per year.
Interested applicants must have completed a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theater or have earned a Theater Education degree from an accredited institution. Post graduate or graduate experience a plus. Applicants with previous Arts Administration experience preferred. A combination of work experience and education is acceptable.
Primary responsibility are to design, create and implement a progressive theater curriculum in the form of classes, workshops, camps and productions, along with the coordination and implementation of the Center for the Arts’ Arts4Kids after school program. Includes facilitating all aspects of each production including collaboration with the directors, constant communication with cast parents, theatrical light designs, maintaining props & costumes. Arts4Kids responsibilities include scheduling staff, planning daily activities, works directly with both students and parents. Programming is mostly for pre-school and youth, but does include intergenerational and senior activities as well. This position also hires and supervises a small year round staff.
The Theater Department Coordinator is a full-time position that will not exceed 40 hours per week. Weekly schedules are flexible depending on activities, programs and events that are scheduled. This position is slotted at Grade D on the Solon Wage Scale offering a hiring range beginning at $16.50 per hour to the mid-point of $20.50 per hour. In addition, the City provides full-time employees with benefits including contributory medical, dental and vision; life insurance; vacation and select paid holidays. Full-time employees participate in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).
