Top Ten (+ 1) Story Ideas for One World Day
in Cleveland Cultural Gardens August 28, 2016
1. This is the official Centennial Celebration of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens in partnership with the City of Cleveland. The first Garden was established in 1916 so this is the 100th year. Centennial events will be featured.
2. August 28, 2016 is the 71st annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. Historic, Continuous, Official, the one and only, imitated but never duplicated, Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation event.
3. Visitors have the opportunity to visit (eat, drink, be entertained in, etc.) all the Gardens - not just a few gardens or a small area – all gardens are participating and visitors can get to them via the free trolleys and people movers. There will be free Lolley the Trolley Garden Tours.
4. A moving Naturalization Ceremony will welcome about 25 new citizens from all over the world as a federal judge swears them in.
5. The Parade of Flags will feature dozens of nationalities, ethnic costumes and more. The true Diversity of Cleveland on display.
6. Passport to Peace. Attendees get a free Passport which they take to any/all gardens and participate in a free, fun activity in that garden to get their Passport stamped. For kids and adults of all ages.
7. One World Day souvenir book. Includes Garden info, maps, history and more – collector’s edition, free.
8. Variety of Ethnic food and drink. Each Garden will have food from their culture or a food truck/vendor will be stationed there. Example – Hofbrau Haus Beer Garden in the German Garden. Slymans corned beef, Hungarian goulash, Vietnamese Bahn Mi, ice cream, etc.
9. Variety of ethnic performances throughout the Gardens. Very diverse, something for everyone, unique settings. Examples Scottish Games, Yoga, Asian dance, opera, Middle Eastern dance, etc.
10. The price is right. Free parking, Free shuttle buses (Not Lolley) from parking lot to the gardens, free admission, and free entertainment.
