Rubber City Theatre is seeking the following positions for the 2019-2020 season. RCT is moving to a new venue in downtown Akron. The location includes an intimate 74 seat thrust theatre, dressing rooms, a workshop space, and administrative office. The following are contracted positions. We are seeking 1-2 Resident Scenic Designers, 1 Resident lighting Designer (1 Res. Lighting designer position has been filled), 1 Resident Costume Designer (1 Res. Costume designer position has been filled), and 1 Resident Stage Manager (two other SM positions have been filled). Show Dates are on our website (https://www.rubbercitytheatre.com/19-20-season.html). Typically, rehearsals begin about a month in advance to opening.

Resident Scenic Designer - Job Description - All Shows Available 

1. To complete sketches or sketch model(s) of the settings as necessary.
2. To build all designs for the show. 
3. To work with properties supervisor to approve or acquire all scenic properties required for the production, including draperies and furniture.
4. To supply specifications for competitive bids for scenery or property suppliers mutually satisfactory to the Producer and the Scenic Designer.
5. To attend the rehearsals and meetings as necessary to design the production.
6. To design and/or coordinate special scenic effects for the production.
7. Respect the physical property of the production and RCT.
Resident Scenic Designer pays a stipend of $400 per show. 

We have Resident Lighting Design openings for A Little Princess, Revolutionist, and Shakesqueer Musical (world premier commission).  

Resident Lighting Designer - Job Description 1. To provide full lighting equipment lists and a light plot drawn to scale from Scenic Design and theatre drawings provided by Producer. 
2. To provide color, hook-up plots and instrument schedule including all information required for the realization of the design. 
3. To coordinate and plot special lighting effects.
4. To supply specifications for competitive bids for lighting and special effects suppliers mutually satisfactory to the Producer and the Lighting Designer. 
5. To hang and focus the lighting equipment and program lighting cues. 
6. To attend the rehearsals and meetings as necessary to design the production.
7. Respect the physical property of the production and RCT.
Resident Lighting Designer pays a stipend of $250 per show. 

We have Resident Costume Design openings for A Little Princess, Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure, and A Christmas Carol.  

Resident Costume Designer - Job Description 1. To provide a costume plot and complete sketches or representations necessary for execution of costumes and to design, select or approve all accessories.
2. To build or purchase all costumes for the show. Or, 
3. To design, select or coordinate all contemporary costumes, including selections from the performer’s personal wardrobe when necessary. Or, 
4. Select appropriate costumes from stock, rental or other resources and coordinate their adaptation for the production.
5. To oversee the fittings and attend appropriate rehearsals.
6. To approve hairstyles and/or select of wigs, hairpieces, mustaches, beards, prosthetics and special make-up.
7. To attend the rehearsals and meetings as necessary to design the production.
8. Respect the physical property of the production and RCT.
9. Do laundry twice a week during the show run. 
Resident Costume Designer pays a stipend of $500 per show.

Resident Stage Manager - Job Description 
A Stage Manager shall be obligated to perform at least the following duties for the production to which they are engaged:

• Shall be responsible for the calling of all rehearsals, whether before or after opening.
• Shall assemble and maintain the Prompt Book which is defined as the accurate playing text and stage business, together with such cue sheets, plots, daily records, etc., as are necessary for the actual technical and artistic operation of the production.
• Shall work with the Director and the heads of all other departments, during rehearsal and after opening, schedule rehearsal and outside calls in accordance with Equity regulations.
• Assume active responsibility for the form and discipline of rehearsal and performance, and be the executive instrument on the technical running of each performance.
• Maintain the artistic intentions of the Director and the Producer after opening, to the best of their ability, including calling correctional rehearsals of the company when necessary and preparation of the Understudies, Replacements, Extras and Supers, when and if the Director and/or Producer declines this prerogative. Therefore, if an Actor finds themselves unable to satisfactorily work out an artistic difference of opinion with the Stage Manager regarding the intentions of the Director and Producer, the Actor has the option of seeking clarification from the Director or Producer.
• Keep such records as are necessary to advise the Producer on matters of attendance, time health benefits or other matters relating to the rights of Equity members. The Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Managers are prohibited from the making of payrolls or any distribution of salaries.
• Stage Manager duties may include shifting scenery, running lights, etc.

Stage Management stipend is $300 per show.
