LAKEWOOD YOUNG FILMMAKERS ACADEMY is excited to announce TWO filmmaking programs THIS FALL!
8 WEEK FILM SCHOOL
Lakewood Young Filmmakers Academy is a comprehensive film studies program specifically designed for kids and teens ages 10-17. Movies are an important part of our lives and more and more kids are becoming interested in how they are made. LYFA's 8 Week Program is designed to give your child a crash course in how to create professional movies from start to finish. From screenwriting to lighting and sound, to camera work to editing, LYFA's award winning instructors will guide your child through the creative process and onto a journey of artistic expression using the cinematic arts. Classes begin Tuesday, September 11 from 6pm-8pm
FRIDAY NIGHT FILM CLUBS
LYFA Film Club invites both boy and girl students grades 8-12 to the Lakewood Young Filmmakers Academy Friday nights from 7-9pm, beginning September 7, to talk about classic and current films. Members are assigned a movie to watch at home each week prior to the discussion. There will be one field trip scheduled to the Cinematheque at the Cleveland Institute of Art to watch a classic film and tour the projection booth. *Members of Female Filmmaker Fridays also get membership in this group and are welcome to stay.
Female Filmmaker Fridays is an 8 week film club where female students grades 8-12 interested in film and filmmaking are invited to the Lakewood Young Filmmakers Academy to meet other women who work in the industry and learn about a variety of topics pertaining to filmmaking. There will be presentations, speaker forums and opportunities for mentoring. The intention of this group is to encourage girls to pursue the film and television industry as a future career. Female Filmmaker Fridays will be held Fridays from 6-7pm beginning September 7-October 26. This program is hosted by film and TV producer and 2 time Emmy winner Hollie Brubaker!
