CONVERGENCE-CONTINUUM PRESENTS IN THE BLOOD
BY SUZAN-LORI PARKS
OPENING FRI, MAY 18th AT THE LIMINIS THEATER
Convergence-continuum presents In the Blood by
Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks. In a modern, urban
riff on Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet
Letter, Hester La Negrita, a homeless mother of five, lives with her kids
on the tough streets of the inner city. Her kids, played by adult actors,
double as five other people in her life: ex-boyfriend, social worker, doctor,
best friend and minister. While Hester's kids fill her life with joy (comical
moments amid the harsh world of poverty) the supposedly supportive adults only
hold her back. Will anything prevent a
tragic end?
In The Blood is directed by Cory Molner, with the cast featuring actors Jeannine Gaskin, Daryl Kelley, Anthony X, Shannon Sharkey, Grace Mitri and Patrick Gladish.
In the Blood opens Friday, May 18 and runs Thurs-Sat at 8 pm through June 9 at the Liminis, 2438 Scranton Rd, Cleveland 44113 in the historic Tremont neighborhood.
