announce auditions for the World Premiere of

THE STAR ON MY HEART

written and directed by Angela Miloro-Hansen 

based on the memoirs and in cooperation with Holocaust survivor
 Inge Auerbacher 
(I Am a Star)

The Star on My Heart is an independent project and original play by Angela Miloro-Hansen, based on the memoirs of Holocaust survivor Inge Auerbacher. Of the 15,000 children that were in imprisoned in the Terezin transit camp near Prague, 
Inge is one among the one percent that survived. 
Inge will be present at the performances and the cast will have the opportunity to speak closely with her. 

Please note that throughout the course of November the cast will be engaging in school outreach, and may require some day-time availability, especially for students involved in this production. Exceptions will be made as necessary. 

The role of Teen Inge is already cast. All other roles are open.

Rehearsals will take place primarily at the GLTG in Chardon, OH with a few rehearsals at Shore Cultural Centre in November.

All girls auditioning for the role of Young Inge will need to prepare a serious monologue under two minutes in length. 

All other roles, please be prepared to read from the script, but a monologue will not be necessary. Roles are available for all ages.

Vina, 13-16 years old, African American female – Sick in NYC hospital in post WWII America. Coming of age. 

*Mary-Ann, 7-9 years old, female – Sick in NYC hospital in post WWII America. Crybaby. 

*Elisabeth, 7-9 years old, female – Christian girl in WWII Germany. Sweet.

*Ada, 11 years old, female – Jewish girl in Terezin concentration camp. Hopeful. This role requires singing. 

*Ruth Abraham, 9-10 years old, female—Christian girl in Terezin concentration camp. Inge’s best friend. 

*Tommy Rinder, 8-11 years old, male – Jewish boy in Terezin concentration camp. Sweet.

*Harry, 15 years old, Puerto Rican male – Sick in NYC hospital in post WWII America. Inge’s first boyfriend. 

*Andy, 15-17 years old, male – NYC high school student in post WWII America 

*Bob, 15-17 years old, male – NYC high school student in post WWII America 

*Louise, 15-21 years old, female – NYC high school student in post WWII America

Berthold Auerbacher, 40s-50s, male – Inge’s father. WWI veteran, wounded. Struggling 
with the hardships he is facing, determined to live

Miss Mahoney, 20s-50s, female – Nurse in post WWII American hospital. Motherly. 

*Grandmother, 50s-70s, female – Inge’s grandmother. Kind, level headed.

*Adult Inge, 50s-70s, female – Inge as an adult. This role will be doubled with Grandmother. 

Mrs. Rinder, 40s-50s, female – Jewish woman in Terezin. Takes charge. Strong, brave.

*Therese, 20s-40s, female – Christian woman in WWII Germany. Helps Inge and her family. Brave, determined. 

*Mr. Ruchlis, 40s-60s, male—post WWII NYC high school teacher 

*Doctor, 40s-50s, male – post WWII NYC doctor 

*Sara Abraham, 30s-50s, female – Jewish woman in Terezin. Ruth’s mother.
