Poetry Night at Compass Coffee will be Sept 20th, and we are helping to celebrate Akron Peace
Month with a very special reading featuring Akron poet John Dayo-Aliya!
John Dayo-Aliya is a poet/playwright/teacher/director/musician
from Akron,Oh. He has performed poetry nationally and is the
co-founder/artistic director of Ma’Sue Productions. He studied Pan
African Studies and Theater at Kent State University.
After our
feature, we will host a very special Peace Month open mic! Please
bring a poem for open mic that reflects on the themes of nonviolence,
peace, or positive change. Be creative in your interpretation and hopeful in your writing!
This reading is also in conjunction with the global 100,000 Poets for Change movement!
