Audition Information
Where: Beck Center for the Arts 17801 Detroit Ave., Lakewood OH 44107
When: Open Call Auditions {By Appt. Only!} will take place Sat., Feb 20th (2PM to 5PM), Sun., Feb. 21st (6PM to 9PM) and Mon., Feb. 22nd (5PM to 8PM) Appointments will be in increments of 5 minutes. Call Beck’s Box Office at 216-521-2540 x10 for your appointment. Please plan on arriving 15 minutes prior to your appointment to fill out paperwork.
Two Shows?: Yes, we are auditioning for both of these productions at once. That does NOT mean you need to be available or interested in both to audition! While it is totally possible to do both shows should you be interested, declaring interest for just one of these productions is just fine, and will not affect casting choices. Just indicate which one you are interested in (or both) at your audition.
What To Prepare?: The Open Calls will only require one (1) vocal selection ( approx. 32 bars), or two (2) vocal selections (approx. 16 bars each). Bring sheet music already in your key. An accompanist will be provided. Singing without accompaniment is highly discouraged. There will not be a Dance Call UNTIL callbacks. If possible, please bring a resume’ and headshot. Neither are required for the audition, but are helpful if you have them. Even a small picture is useful to us. Note: Pictures cannot be returned!
Equity/Non-Equity: Two (2) AEA contracts will be offered for each show. “Heathers” operates under a Special Appearance Contract (no health weeks) and “Billy Elliot” operates under a Tier One Guest Artist Contract (Health included.) Each contract is anticipated to be 11 weeks. Also, all Non Equity performers ARE compensated with a modest stipend for their participation. You must be 18 years old at the time of the closing performance to qualify for a stipend. No EMC points are available for either of these productions.
Callbacks: Callbacks will occur during the time frame of Sat. Feb. 27th thru Mon., Feb. 29th. ‘Which shows on which days’ has not yet been decided. This will be determined after Open Calls. It is essential at the time of your audition that you let us know your full availability during this three day span so we can best organize our call back structure. Possible Call Back windows are as follows:Sat., Feb. 27th (2PM to 7PM), Sun., Feb. 28th (Noon to 6PM) and Mon., Feb. 29th (5PM to 10PM). If you are needed at a Call Back session you will be alerted via e-mail by 3PM on Wednesday, Feb. 24th at the latest.
Roles Available: In “Heathers” the role of Ram’s Dad (and his track) has been cast (Matthew Wright), and in “Billy Elliot” the role of Mrs. Wilkinson has been cast (Katherine DeBoer).
