Young Filmmakers Academy, NE Ohio's premiere film program for kids and teens, is enrolling for the 2023 Summer Film Camp Program.

In the camp, your child will work alongside award winning filmmakers to create an original film from start to finish. Our mentors have worked on such projects as The Fast & The Furious, The Avengers, Captain America, The Enormity of Life, White Noise, Cheers, Frasier, Modern Family and more.

They won't be sitting in a classroom hearing about it, they'll be on a set doing it (and getting IMDb credit to boot.) Once the film is complete they'll attend a Red Carpet Premiere and Gala Event where they'll be treated like true celebrities and see their film on the big screen.

The Program breaks down like this:

WEEK 1:

SCREENWRITING & PRE-PRODUCTION - JULY 10 - 14 (FULL)

Every great film begins with a blank piece of paper or an empty computer screen, until the story flows out of its writer. In this segment of the camp, the students will brainstorm story and theme ideas and write the script that will become the blueprint for the entire camp project. Casting decisions will be made by the participants in this segment as well.

WEEK 2:

ON SET PRODUCTION & ACTING - JULY 17 - 21 (6 SPOTS LEFT)

Once the script has been printed and the actors have been cast it's time for lights, camera and action. In this week-long segment, the film will be shot. Crew positions include directors, camera operators, boom operators, grips, gaffers, set designers, costumes and props, hair and makeup, miscellaneous crew and actors.

 WEEK 3:

POST-PRODUCTION, EDITING AND DIGITAL EFFECTS - JULY 24 - 28 (5 SPOTS LEFT)

Once all the footage has been shot, the task of putting it all together falls on the post production team in this  segment. From editing, to color correction, to music and special effects, this team has the final say in what the world gets to see.


WE ALSO OFFER A ONE WEEK BEGINNERS CAMP FOR KIDS AGES 8-11 - JUNE 5-9  (LIMITED AVAILABILITY)

This program is geared towards our younger studentS. It's a week-long workshop designed to give our younger kids a taste of what the advanced workshop is all about. Students in this age range who have attended previous camps can be grandfathered into the advanced program if they choose. The students of this class will attend the red carpet premiere where their project will screen before the main attraction.
