CLEVELAND PLAY HOUSE EDUCATION CASTING LOCAL NON-AEA ACTORS FOR WORLD PREMIER PRODUCTION OF
THE THROWAWAYS
Cleveland Play House (CPH) is seeking to cast local actors as for the Family Theatre Program’s 2025 production of
The Throwaways, by Jose Cruz Gonzalez, directed by Eric Schmiedl.
All roles are non-union contracts.
Roles available:
-
PERFORMER #1 – portrays MAKOS (Marcus), a Latino, Black, or Mixed-Race character; 13-year-old middle school student; responsible, conscientious, and intuitive; very protective of his little sister, BIBI.

PERFORMER #2 – portrays BIBI (Bibiana), a Latino, Black, or Mixed-Race character; 9-year-old elementary school student; imaginative, hopeful, and creative; sees the world with wonder and curiosity.

PERFORMER #3 – portrays D.L., MR. TORRES, MR. MOON, RED BALLOON, CLERK, and SCHOOL BOY; Latino, Black, or Mixed-Race characters; various ages: D.L. is an adult who drives a tricked-out car. MR. TORRES is an elder in the neighborhood. MR. MOON is a magical
“father-figure.”

MUSICIAN – a character of any cultural background who plays keyboard, sings background vocals, and generates live Foley sound effects for the characters.
All characters listed above are puppets made from repurposed materials. Actors
must be comfortable with using puppets and with singing. Any additional musical skills, training, or experience is welcomed.
Auditions are Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm
