HBTI closes  its 2017 summer season with the award winning musical SIDE SHOW presented at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, Ohio from July 30th through August 6th.

SIDE SHOW is based on the true story of Siamese twins.  Violet and Daisy Hilton, who became vaudeville stars during the Great Depression.  This powerful musical is a moving portrait of two women, joined at the hip, whose extraordinary bondage brings them fame but denies them love.  Told almost entirely in song, the show follows their progression from England to America, around the vaudeville circuit and to Hollywood on the eve of their appearance in the 1932 movie Freaks.  SIDE SHOW was a nominee in 2015 for the Drama Desk Award for Best Revival of a Musical.

Remaining performances are Friday and Saturday, August 4 and 5 at 7:30 PM; and Sundays, July 30 and August 6 at 2:00 PM.

The show is presented at the Hathaway Brown School, 19600 North Park Blvd., Shaker Heights, Ohio 44122.  Tickets are $12-15 and can be purchased online at www.hb.edu/tickets, by calling 216-932-4214 x7270 or at the door (if available) the day of the performance.

The production is directed by Dan Hendrock and choreographed by Kelly Meneer.  SIDE SHOW also features musical direction by John Krol, set and lighting design by T.Paul Lowry, costumes design by Jacqueline Guerra, sound design by Carlton Guc and combat choreography by Ryan Zarecki.

SIDE SHOW  boasts a cast of some of the most talented student performers in NE Ohio.  Now in its fifth year, The Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute was created by the Performing Arts Department of the Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights for students 1st grade – college.  HBTI offers coursework in drama, dance and music.  HBTI provides high-level training from working artists to young people interested in the performing arts, as well as professional-level production experiences.  Students of HBTI's staff of professional artists have gone on to perform on Broadway, in regional theatre, and in film and television.
