Announces Auditions for the 47th Marilyn Bianchi Kids’ Playwriting Festival Adult Ensemble:

DOBAMA THEATRE NON-UNION AUDITIONS FOR ACTORS OVER 18

Dobama Theatre is announcing non-AEA auditions for the upcoming 47th Annual Marilyn Bianchi Kids’ Playwriting Festival (MBKPF) Adult Ensemble. Dobama Theatre is looking to cast between 12 and 15 adult actors of all sizes, ages, ethnicities, and genders who will rehearse multiple plays* by young writers in May and perform in June of 2025. All roles are compensated.

*The MBKPF consists of around 10 plays written by local students ages 6 to 18. The plays will be chosen in April of 2025, so roles in each play will be determined at a later date. Those cast in this adult ensemble will be notified of specific casting and/or callbacks on a show-by-show basis as soon as the winning plays are announced. 

WHEN:

Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm

Auditions will be scheduled in 40 minute increments, with groups of 4 to 8 actors in each.

WHAT TO PREPARE:

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled audition to check in and fill out audition forms. Come prepared to move, improvise, read from sides provided, and collaborate with your fellow auditioners. No monologues necessary! You will be auditioning for Carrie Williams, Education Director, and Erin E. Dolan, Director of Programs, of Dobama Theatre and other members of the Dobama Theatre team.

SUBMIT FOR DIRECT CONSIDERATION:

Actors who have been recently cast in a Dobama production or participated in recent MBKPFs may submit for direct consideration for callbacks. These actors should send a resume and headshot to youngplaywrights@dobama.org.

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: Friday, February 21st, 2025

IMPORTANT DATES:

In order to be considered for this ensemble, please make sure that you are available for the following dates:

First Rehearsal (ALL CALLED): Saturday, April 26th (time TBD but will end before 5pm)

General rehearsals: April 28 through May 29. Rehearsals are Mondays through Fridays 6-9pm, Saturdays 11-4pm (no rehearsals on Sundays). 

Tech - May 30 through June 4th, Time TBD

Performances (ALL CALLED) - June 5-8th, 2025
