Broadview Heights Spotlights’ Summer Youth Musical:
Disaster!
This year, the
Broadview Heights Spotlights’ summer youth production is Disaster!, a hysterical homage to 1970’s disaster movies such as The Poseidon Adventure, Airport, The Towering Inferno, and Jaws. Written by Seth Rudetsky and Jack
Plotnick, the show features over 30 classic rock and disco hits from the
era.
A cast of 21
talented teenage performers adeptly bring this show and their borrowed
character-types to life. There’s the
jilted lover, a singing nun, a sleazy real estate developer, a geology
professor, and an aging lounge singer with twin children. Principal cast members include Nicholas
Beiser, Delia Brennan, Kate Brierley, Kyla Burks, Nicholas DeAngelis, Zoe
Douglas, Clay Hoffner, Alicia Pedraza, Ellie Ritterbusch, Cole Tarantowski, and
Nathan Weagraff. Members of the ensemble
include Ariel Brinker, Clorise Busch, Audrey Halvorson, Charlie Ligus, Molly
Molina, Declan Newton, James Newton, Josh Pedraza, Emma Rosberil, and Nick
Talion.
Tim Anderson serves
as the director of this production and is aided by the creative collaboration
of Maggie Majercik as choreographer, Ryan Bergeron as music director, Stephanie
Giammarco as costumer, and Charlie Jones as lighting designer. Adam Bowers serves as producer.
The Spotlights’
production marks the Ohio-premiere of this musical, which ran on Broadway in
2016 starring Faith Prince, Adam Pascal, Roger Bart, and show-creator, Seth
Rudetsky. The show contains some mature
themes and innuendo and has a PG-13 rating.
The show runs June 22 – July 2, 2017. Thursday, Friday, and
Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday matinees begin at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $14 for seniors
and students. Reservations may be made on-line at www.broadview-heights-spotlights.org.
