The Play
Guys On Ice, originally produced at Actors’ Summit Theater in 2009, is an outrageously funny musical that is sprinkled with a copious supply of fish tales, fishing jokes, and fishy figures of speech, not to mention the dozen or so songs that graced the stage with their catchy tunes and clever lyrics. Appropriate for all ages, this little gem is a great family show.
Originally created for the American Folklore Theatre—now Northern Sky, Guys On Ice It has been produced over a dozen times at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, and was filmed for Wisconsin Public Television in 2014.
Guys on Ice spends a day in the life of Marvin and Lloyd — fishing buddies and home-grown philosophers. With musical numbers like, "The Wishing Hole," "Ode to a Snowmobile Suit," "Fish is the Miracle Food" and "The One That Got Away", this is a show for the entire family.

Rave Reviews for Guys On Ice
Chuck Yarborough, of the Plain Dealer commented on the original 2009 production “… it’s the Hope and Cosby road picture that was never made.”
Mark Horning of axs.com “… If you are looking for a non-holiday infused show that is witty and a true delight to watch, look no further than Actors’ Summit’s production of “Men on Ice.” Spend a delightful evening with these “Ice Hole Philosophers” as they sing, dance and joke their way into your heart. This gem of a show is well worth the short drive from Cleveland. You Betcha.”
Kerry Clawson of Beacon Journal, “The show stars the ever-funny Frank Jackman, who, even when his character Lloyd is over-emoting as he bursts into song, has a bright spirit that shines through. He created an authentically disarming moment with the emotional ballad Everything is New, a tune about the beauty of ice fishing early in the morning when the rest of world is asleep….Bob Keefe also is fully invested in his simpleton character Marvin, whose main goal in life is to win the heart of a cashier at the Pick ‘N’ Save. The two share some inspired moves via synchronized Velcro and zipper sound effects as they perform Ode to a Snowmobile Suit. “
