FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Sign up soon for auditions for Rabbit Run Theater

Audition appointments are now being taken for the 2017 summer season at Rabbit Run Theater in Madison, Ohio.

The productions for the summer are “Guys and Dolls”, “It’s Only a Play”, “Peter and the Starcatcher” and “Into the Woods”.

Auditions run two weekends, Mar. 11 and 12 for the musicals “Guys and Dolls” and “Into the Woods” and Mar. 18 and 19 for “It’s Only a Play” and “Peter and the Starctcher”.

“Guys and Dolls” is the 1950 musical with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling.  New York’s most notorious gamblers make a bet that focuses on the beautiful mission girl, Sarah, who is whisked off to Havana, Cuba, to be wined and dined.  But Sarah has a mind of her own and all bets are off in this musical classic.

Show dates are June 2 through June 24.  The show is directed by Brint Learned with musical direction by Danielle Jones and choreography by Jill Tschetter.

“Into the Woods”, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, runs Aug. 11 through Aug. 27.  The show is directed by Brint Learned with musical direction by Chris Bott.

The Baker and his wife and all other manner of characters Grimm enter the woods, seeking their life’s dreams.  Even with the witch’s warning, “Be careful what you wish for”, ringing in their ears, near disastrous decisions are made.

Auditions for “Guys and Dolls” and “Into the Woods” are 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Mar.11, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 12.  Multiple roles are available in both musicals for men and women ages high school and up.

Actors auditioning for the musicals should be prepared to sing 16 measures of a Broadway-style song.  Please bring sheet music for accompaniment; no pre-recorded accompaniment.  Dress comfortably for movement.

“It’s Only a Play” written by Terrence McNally, runs from June 30 through July 15.  The production is directed by Ann Hedger.  There are 5 roles available for men, ages 25 to 60, and 2 roles available for women, ages 20 to 50.

Julia Budder throws a lavish party celebrating the opening of her play, “The Golden Egg”.  While celebrities pour in downstairs, a group of insiders have staked themselves out upstairs to await the reviews.  The mixture of an excitable playwright, an unstable director and a pill-popping leading lady, to name a few, brings out the narcissism, ambition, childishness, and humor that infuses the theatre!

Auditions for “It’s Only a Play” are Saturday, Mar. 18, and Sunday, Mar. 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. both days.  Actors will read from the script and do not need to prepare a monologue.

“Peter and the Starcatcher” a play by Rick Elice and music by Wayne Barker, opens July 21 and runs through Aug. 5.  The show is directed by Mark Cipra.  The musical director is Kyle Lorek, and the movement design and choreography are by Ann Fairhurst.

There are multiple roles available for both men and women ages from late teens to those in their 60s.

“Peter and the Starcatcher” tells the story of the origins of Peter Pan.
A young orphan and his mates are shipped from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff.  At sea the boys discover Molly, the starcatcher-in-training, who realizes the boat is carrying a secret cargo of starstuff, a celestial and powerful substance that must never fall into the wrong hands.

Auditions for “Peter and the Starcatcher” are Saturday, Mar. 18, from 2 to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 19, from 1 to 4 p.m.  Actors auditioning will read from the script and do not need to prepare a monologue.  Actors should be dressed for movement and prepared to sing (music will be provided).

As many of the roles are pirates, actors auditioning for “Peter and the Starcatcher” are welcome to bring a ukulele, small percussion instrument, guitar, lyre or concertina or any other instrument that be appropriate for a stereotypical pirate image to play during their audition.
