Subject: [NEohioPAL] Mercury Theatre Company National Award-Winning Junior Company Auditions
Mercury Theatre Company’s National Award-Winning Junior Company announces auditions for their fall competition season show, Sister Act Jr.
Mercury Theatre Company’s nationally-recognized, pre-collegiate training program The Junior Company announces open auditions for students in grades 6-12 for their Fall 2021 semester and their production of Sister Act Jr, competing at the 2022 iTheatrics’ Junior Theatre Festival. Membership in The Junior Company is by audition and/or invitation only.
The Junior Company, led by Mercury Theatre Company Artistic Director Pierre Brault, offers students the opportunity to both perform and develop their craft while receiving instruction from a team of industry professionals. Company members receive coaching in numerous acting techniques, music theory and vocal performance, and company-wide dance training. The Junior Company produces two fully-staged musicals a year, as well as competing at national performing arts competitions such as iTheatrics’ Junior Theatre Festival, The National Performing Arts Festival, and Musical Theatre Competitions of America.
*Please note that, differing from prior years, fall auditions are intended for members who will be traveling with the Junior Company to Atlanta, Georgia January 13-17th for the Junior Theatre Festival. Auditions for the NPAF/MTCA competition team and the second semester production will be held in November.
AUDITIONS FOR THE JUNIOR COMPANY

Auditions will be held in person at Notre Dame College, the home of Mercury Theatre Company, on Saturday September 11th. Auditions will be held in two sessions- a morning session from 9:00-11:15am with a 45 minute dance call concluding at 12:00pm and an afternoon session from 1:00-3:15pm with a 45 minute dance call concluding at 4pm. Prospective members should sign up for either the morning or afternoon sessions and be prepared to either stay or return for the 11:15 or 3:15 dance calls. At check-in, students will be assigned a 5 minute time slot for their vocal audition. If you are unable to make the September 11th in person auditions, please email mymercury@mercurytheatrecompany.org to schedule an audition.
The Junior Company is seeking strong Singer-Actors and dancers. Company members must be able to sing harmony. Not all roles require dance training, but strong movement ability is necessary from all actors.
SINGING:
Prepare a short 32-bar selection of a musical theatre or pop song in the style of the show that demonstrates range and vocal tone. Please bring sheet music- an accompanist will be provided. Any questions about songs can be directed to mymercury@mercurytheatrecompany.org
DANCING:
Please come prepared to dance. Prospective members will be shown through a brief dance call to adjudicate dance levels. Appropriate shoes and attire required.
READING:
You may be asked to read from the script. If necessary, material will be provided at the audition.
REHEARSAL SCHEDULE
Regular rehearsals will begin Saturday, September 25th, and will take place every Saturday until the culmination of the production. Additional rehearsals may be added in November/December as required. Saturday rehearsals will include training in music, theatre, and dance from industry professionals. Saturday rehearsals run from 10am-5pm, but you may not be called the entire time to every rehearsal.
Please bring your conflicts to auditions so you may note these on your audition forms. Please note that all company members must be available from 5-10pm from December 13-15, and 1-9pm on December 12 for tech rehearsals.
PERFORMANCE DATES:
December 2021 (South Euclid)
January 13-17, 2022 (Atlanta**)
COSTS
Training tuition for the fall semester of The Junior Company is $400 and may be paid in two installments of $200. The first installment is due at the first training session on September 25th and the remainder is due November 6. You may pay in full on September 25th. JTF Festival costs may total up to $750, which may be defrayed with fundraising.
CASTING
Casting decisions will be announced by Friday, September 17, and company members are expected to accept their roles no later than the first rehearsals. All actors who are invited to be a part of The Junior Company are expected to perform in the South Euclid performance in December, as well as attend the Junior Theatre Festival. **Please note that in order to safely travel as a company, all members of the 2021-2022 Junior Company who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine MUST BE VACCINATED. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this requirement. Proof of vaccination will be required at the first rehearsal to determine what members of the team may travel. Additional questions can be directed to mymercury@mercurytheatrecompany.org.
Mercury Theatre Company’s The Junior Company will return to the iTheatrics Junior Theatre Festival January 13-17, 2022 presenting SISTER ACT JR. The show will be presented in its entirety in December 2021 in the Regina Auditorium at Notre Dame College. Seeking 25 actors and technicians to travel and compete.

Subject: [NEohioPAL] CORRECTION- Auditions for "The Thanksgiving Play" at Kent Trumbull

The Kent Trumbull Theatre is seeking actors for their production of Larissa FastHorse's "The Thanksgiving Play."

Show dates will be November 12-14; 19-21. Rehearsals will be Mon-Thurs beginning Sept 27.

Auditions will be held September 20 & 21 at the Trumbull Campus Theatre beginning at 7 pm.  Actors auditioning in person should come ready to read from the script.  Actors who would prefer to submit a video audition should contact the director at ekildow@kent.edu

Auditions are open to the public as well as students.

Casting Breakdown:
Logan- Female, Caucasian looking, the director as well as an actor. Earnest about theater and doing the right thing, but wants everyone to feel part of the collaboration so much that it derails the actual play.

Caden- Male, Caucasian looking, the academic. Teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School System with dramatic aspirations but no clue how things work on stage.

Jaxton- Male, Caucasian looking, the LA surfer actor. Politically correct to a fault, a big one. He’s that guy everyone loves, but his logical PC thinking takes weird turns.

Alicia- Female, brunette, Caucasian looking but has looks that would have been cast as ethnic in 1950’s movies. Hot, but not bright. That actress whose every script note ends with her being allocated more lines.

Ensemble- Various.  Performers of elementary school style songs and skits about Thanksgiving.

Please call 330-675-8887 or email trumbullboxoffice@kent.edu for additional information.
