SYNOPSIS

Set in 1957 Pittsburgh, Fences tells the story of Troy Maxson, a black man in his middle years who struggles to provide for his family.  In his prime, Troy was a standout baseball player.  Due to the color barrier as well as a prison sentence, he was never able to pursue his dream of having a professional Major League Baseball career.   Troy’s inner conflicts and frustrations take their toll on his relationships with his wife and his children as they too seek opportunities to fulfill their dreams.
