“Wake Up to Healing Arts: Using Performance and Media for Direction, Hope,
Health, and Total Well-being” Performance Project

Wake Up and Live’s Actors’ Studio (WUAL) is seeking Performing Artists for its “Healing Arts” project.
We are inviting actors, singers, dancers, musicians, poets, etc. to submit a 1 – 2 minute video audition demonstrating how their performance genre
can be used to help those with mental health issues get relief from their challenges.
The artist’s actual performance should be performed within 3 – 5 minutes.
These creative works should tell mental health inspirational stories to be performed on Cleveland area stages and on “Wake Up and Live With the Arts.”
Selected performances will show how the genre reveals overcoming, which allow him/her to now live an improved mental health life.
“Wake Up to Healing Arts” Auditions should:
Address the Concept: Using Performance and Media for Direction, Hope, Health, and Total Well-being.”
Turn Your Life into one of Joy, Health, Wealth and Happiness!
What story is your performance telling?
. Depict some CHALLENGES individuals have overcome, and / or are currently
experiencing.
. How the individual keeps working on addressing the challenges to create transformational mental health changes.
. Why the individual wants to make changes
. Examples of topics which reflect mental health issues
. The stigma of mental health issues
. Teens and young adults suicide
. Using drama, music and dance to help heal mental health issues
. Issues contributing to mental health challenges: loss of income; jobs; family; toxic relationships; domestic abuse
Guidelines:
1. Be suitable to be performed on stage and / or on “Wake Up And Live With the Arts” YouTube show.
2. Be inspirational and uplifting. Offer hope.
3. Depict challenges or conflicts the individual is facing, overcoming, or has overcome to live an
improved mental health life.
4. Offer a non-traditional, thought-provoking approach to answers and problem-solving strategies
to address mental health life issues.
5. Musical Accompaniment optional.
IF Selected:
1 Will be performed on stage and / or on “Wake Up And Live With the Arts”
2. Stipend will be received from net proceeds of performances.
