Actors’ Summit Theater

opens

Guys On Ice

Actors’ Summit Akron’s Professional theater announces the opening of Guys On Ice, the Ice Fishing Musical on Nov. 27, 2015 with a preview performance on Wed. Nov. 25, 2015.  Guys On Ice  is scheduled for a 16 performance run, closing on Sunday Dec. 20, 2015.  There is no performance on Thanksgiving.

A free dessert reception with the cast follows the opening night performance on Friday, Nov. 27th.

The Play

Guys On Ice, originally produced at Actors’ Summit Theater in 2009, is an outrageously funny musical that is sprinkled with a copious supply of fish tales, fishing jokes, and fishy figures of speech, not to mention the dozen or so songs that graced the stage with their catchy tunes and clever lyrics. Appropriate for all ages, this little gem is a great family show.

Originally created for the American Folklore Theatre—now Northern Light, Guys On Ice It has been produced over a dozen times at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, and was filmed for Wisconsin Public Television in 2014.

Guys on Ice spends a day in the life of Marvin and Lloyd — fishing buddies and home-grown philosophers. With musical numbers like, "The Wishing Hole," "Ode to a Snowmobile Suit," "Fish is the Miracle Food" and "The One That Got Away", this is a show for the entire family.

Chuck Yarborough, of the Plain Dealer reviewing the production at Actors ‘Summit in 2009 said :  “…the jokes in the play…are just as corny, the songs are just as catchy and … most important, really, the chemistry between actors …is just as best-buds evident… it’s the Hope and Cosby road picture that was never made.”
