Technical Director/Instructional Clinical Staff

Ashland University, Ashland Ohio, invites applications for 12 month Technical Director position starting June 2019 negotiable. MFA in Technical Theatre or BA/BFA with appropriate professional experience required. Experience with sound, electrics and welding helpful. Candidates must possess strong collaborative, instructional, organizational, communication and leadership skills and a commitment to mentoring undergraduate students.  Lead the planning, implementation and installation of all scenic, prop, lighting and sound elements collaborating with guest and student designers for two theatres and three main stage productions each year.  Supervise, teach and manage paid student workers, laboratory students and student crews at varying levels of knowledge. Manage day to day scene shop operations, equipment maintenance, draft shop drawings (Vectorworks), and ensure a safe working environment. Serve as facility manager for the theatre spaces and team-teach two tech theatre courses.  Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
