JOB DESCRIPTION – CARE Teaching Artist

CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal Full-Time, Exempt (grant funded position)

REPORTS TO: CARE Program Manager

DEPARTMENT: Education

SUPERVISES: school-based teaching partners 

JOB OBJECTIVE: Under the oversight of the CARE Project Director, the CARE teaching artist will work in a team in the implementation of high quality instruction for CARE, an arts-integration program developed and researched through a grant awarded by the US Department of Education.

COMPENSATION: $36,000 plus Benefits

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Teaching (training, planning, implementation and direct instruction) in all aspects of CARE programming. 
Ongoing distribution and collection of assessments and evaluations on all aspects of CARE programming.
Direct and positive communication and on-going relationships with school partner.
Participation in on-going dissemination of the CARE program, including travel and presentation at conferences, etc.
Performing other duties as needed.

CORE REQUIRED SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, AND KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Education, Drama Therapy, Social Work or related field required. Master’s preferred.
Exhibit a strong commitment to working with educators and young people.
Commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion principals.
Understanding of trauma-informed care and practices.
Strong oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
Teaching experience with diverse age groups in an urban educational settings is a plus.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; strong attention to detail. 
Current proof of fingerprinting clearance through the Federal and Ohio State Department of Education is required for employment.
