"Footloose" Benefit Performance

The Broadview Heights Spotlights Community Theater’s production of the musical, Footloose, has been sold out of the regular shows since the week before opening night. However, there are still seats available for a special event on Thursday, November 16. It is a fundraiser for the Broadview Heights Community Foundation. Tickets are $30 and include an Hors D'oeuvres Reception at 6:30PM. Guests can bring their own bottle of wine to enjoy during the evening (glassware provided). There will also be a complimentary beverage bar (non-alcoholic) and dessert at intermission. Tickets are available at Fuerst Automotive (8116 Broadview, at Wallings) or at Broadview Heights City Hall. Tickets may also be purchased at the door (if available).

This 1998 musical is based on the 1984 film.  When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn’t prepared for are the rigorous local laws, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town’s youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.

The Spotlights’ production features a very talented cast of local actors, including Katie Atkinson, Nick Beiser, Sr., Nicholas Beiser, Bill Bergeron, Francine Bergeron, Adam Bowers, David Bowler, Delia Brennan, Clorise Busch, Tara Corkery, Ellie St. Cyr, Stephanie Duganier, Charlie Jones, Sean McCormick, Connor Nightingale, Alicia Pedraza, Annette Phelps, Jackie Phelps, Olivia Sharp, Rachel Thall, and Nathan Weagraff.
