Goodbye Charlie" is set in the early 60's (pre-Beatlemania) and
is a hilarious tale of mixed gender identity that begins with
Charlie's memorial service after he was shot dead by a jealous
husband. But Charlie has been given a second chance and is
reincarnated as a beautiful woman, just the type he used to play
around with. This show is an actor's dream with many character
types, well-defined, with full range of emotions. Charlie, George
and Rusty all have several long monologues so looking for
experienced actors not intimidated by lengthy memorization.
Cast of Characters (4 men/3 women)
- Charlie Sorel (lead) a female reincarnation of a playboy
Hollywood screenwriter. Scripted age is 38, but looks 28.
Full-figured, beautiful and tall (5'9" +). Struggling with his
new body and lease on life.
- George Tracy (lead) best friend of the deceased. Attractive,
athletic, also late 30's. A bit frazzled by the latest
developments. Lives in Paris.
- Rusty Meyerling (lead) the married woman Charlie was with when
her husband killed him. Rusty is early 30's with movie-star
looks, well-groomed but not the brightest bulb in the pack.
- Greg Morris (supporting) Charlie's lawyer. Lives by the
clock. Older gentleman, no-nonsense.
- Irving (supporting) Charlie's agent. Any age, somewhat
flamboyant.
- Mr. Shriber (supporting) a tax expert. Any age, good with
figures.
- Franny Saltzman (supporting) wife of a major film studio
executive. A member of Charlie's "club." Former girl scout,
conservative, compulsive talker.
