A Night of One Acts 8 Directors • 10 Plays • A Wildly Fun Night of Theater
Gates Mills Players is pleased to announce auditions for our upcoming One Acts festival.
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, March 31st at the Gates Mills Community House (1460 Chagrin River Road, Gates Mills, OH 44040).
We are looking for 16+ actors to make up the company for the festival. All plays will be performed each night as a single show. Actors will also assist with moving sets and prop items between pieces.
Come prepared to read from select scripts. Note – you may not read from a play you are later offered. Bring all conflicts for April and May. Rehearsals are typically Monday-Thursday in the evenings. Not all shows will rehearse every day.
Show dates are May 22nd-30th (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday). We cannot accept conflicts from May 17th (Tech Sunday) through opening or for any performance date.

“Hansel and Gretel: The Tables Turned” By Julie Brandon • Directed by Lucy Lytle
Synopsis: Hansel and Gretel are headed deep into the woods in search of The Witch -- but when everyone has a different agenda and fairy tale conventions are turned on their heads, who will ultimately succeed in flipping the script.
Casting: 2 women, 20s–30s; 1 man, 20s–30s
“Heartburn” Written by Daniel Prilliman, Directed by Lesley Geldart
Synopsis: When a routine doctor's visit takes a terrifying turn, one patient discovers sometimes it's better not to know.
Casting: 3 characters - any age, ethnicity, and gender.
“Heard Mentality” Written by Allison Fradkin, Directed by John Hickman
Synopsis: She's going out on a date, and she's not going alone! Ada's all ears as her hearing aids are going to help her through her insecurities.
Casting: 1 woman, any age; 2 any age/gender
“Day Shift of the Dead” By Greg Mandryk • Directed by Stephanie Rogoff
Synopsis: Bert's survivalist fantasies are crushed by the realization that, despite the zombie apocalypse, he is still expected to fulfill the mundane demands of day-to-day life.

“The Village Repairman” By Stephanie Rogoff • Directed by Stephanie Rogoff
Synopsis: A homeowner deliberately sabotages her appliances to lure a local repairman into a date, only to discover that her "break-it-to-fix-it" strategy is a village-wide conspiracy to help her find love.

“A Game for Knights” Written by Mattie Haag, Directed by Robert Haag
Synopsis: In a dim, smoke-curled bar somewhere between the pages of a pulp magazine and a paperback mystery, Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler and Jessica Fletcher trade sharp quips and stiff drinks while mourning the demise of good writing - until they suspect it may have been murdered.
Casting: 2 Men, 40s-70s, 1 Woman, 30s-60s, 1, any gender/age.
“Love in the Village” Written by David Schoenfeld, Directed by Robert Haag
Synopsis: An exploration of love, aging, and intimacy set in a lively Florida retirement community, where seniors navigate relationships, self-discovery, and the complexities of romance.

“The Sauna” Written and Directed by Chris Herak
Synopsis: The cozy room is dimly lit, very warm, you could say hot, very quiet, it’s your spot to relax and decompress, that is until five nimrods infiltrate your fortress of solitude.

“Outside the Box” Written by Emily Turner, Directed by Cameron Zona
Synopsis: What does one do post-break-up? Get a dog, of course!
Casting: 1 person, any gender, 20s-30s
“Reality Bites” Written by B.R. Johnson, Directed by Catherine Remick
Synopsis: You can always count on your siblings to make you feel bad about your life choices, gaslight over childhood memories, yet be irreplaceable.
Casting: 2 men, 30s-40s, 2 woman, 30s-40s
