PROP MASTER
Cleveland Play House (LORT B, C, and D), America’s first regional theatre and recipient of the 2015 Regional Theatre Tony Award, is accepting applications for Prop Master.  CPH produces a 7 show main stage season, a New Ground Theatre Festival, a children’s tour and 2 shows with the Case Western Reserve University MFA acting program. The Prop Master will collaborate with directors and designers to build and acquire props for each production within the available resources of time, budget, personnel, and CPH’s mission, vision, and values. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre or equivalent experience in props at a LORT Theatre; excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills, cost estimating and time management skills, knowledge of furniture history and period, working knowledge of properties construction techniques and materials, working knowledge of shop tools and equipment including woodworking tools, welders, vacuum form machine, and sewing machines, knowledge of mold making and casting techniques, ability to lift 50 pounds and work off tall ladders and personnel lifts, clean DMV record and ability to drive 16’ cube van and 24’ box truck.
Prop Master will have the ability to understand the work and needs of the department, anticipate potential problems, and propose timely solutions. Ability to manage, supervise, and motivate staff. Position is full time, seasonal and runs July 17, 2017 through June 30, 2018.
