Seeking Director – Summer 2022 | Cleveland Shakespeare Festival
Cleveland Shakespeare Festival is seeking an Ohio-based director to mount a comedy (from or inspired by William Shakespeare) for their 25th Season. Interested candidates should submit proposals no later than Monday, September 20 at 11:59pm.

Plays Under Consideration:
- Most comedic plays from the Shakespeare canon (exceptions below)
- Plays inspired by William Shakespeare or his works
Plays NOT Under Consideration: The Comedy of Errors, Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night
Rehearsals & Timeline: CSF rehearsals are held at Wizbang! Theater located at 2134 Lee Rd. Cleveland Heights OH 44118. Technical rehearsals take place outdoors at Coventry PEACE Park (weather permitting).
Summer rehearsals to begin in June with opening night slated for Friday, July 22. Exact rehearsal schedule will be determined by director and production team.
Production: All CSF summer shows are produced to tour across northeast Ohio and perform outdoors in parks and recreational areas, with each show being held in a different venue and presented free of charge to all audiences. CSF attracts nearly 5,000 patrons each summer.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates should have previous directing experience, preferably having acquaintance with the works of Shakespeare and/or Outdoor Theatre. Candidates must be based in/near/or have access to residence around northeast Ohio.
Paid Position: CSF directors are paid a stipend upon opening of show.
Directing Proposals should include:
At least one (1) or up to three (3) play suggestions
Brief description of production thoughts | (1 page or less)
-May include: what draws you to the play, specific style or concept (if any), proposed cast size, relevance or intended theme
Brief description of directing approach/philosophy | (1 page or less)
