The Following Positions Available for Fall 2019/Spring 2020

 

The School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration at 

The University of Akron invites applications for 

their part-time instructor and directing pool.

 

The school is currently seeking candidates to teach 

Acting III and Direct the production of Richard III.

 

Teaching Acting III (Fall 2019)

 

Required Qualifications:

- Minimum of MA in Theatre with Teaching experience in advanced stage Acting

 

Preferred Qualifications:

- MFA or PhD in Theatre

- Educational and professional experience/training in acting and teaching advanced courses in acting. 

- The ability to create inclusive learning environments in the classroom and studio for a diverse student body.

- Applicants should demonstrate collaboration skills and a deep understanding of various acting methodologies and techniques especially work with Shakespearean texts. 

- Evidence of knowledge of the training process of students in a university theatre program.

 

Directing Richard III (Spring 2020)

 

Required Qualifications:

- MA with professional directing experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

- MFA or PhD in Theatre

- Educational and professional experience/training in stage direction and directing university theatre productions. 

- The ability to create inclusive learning environments during the production process for a diverse student body.

- Applicants should demonstrate creativity, collaboration skills, and a deep understanding of how to transfer a Shakespearean text to live performance.
