Call for Teaching Artists
ArtWorks, the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning's longest-running program, is seeking professional teaching artists for its 2021 summer and after-school sessions.
ArtWorks is a career and college readiness program which uses the arts to innovate learning for Northeast Ohio’s 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. Teens are hired to train under the guidance of master teaching artists, who mentor them in an art form
while teaching them 21st century skills.
In 2021, ArtWorks will operate in person, in groups of no more than 10, under strict health and safety protocols determined by the Ohio Department of Health. (The number of students is subject to change if COVID regulations are lifted.) We will monitor
all participants for COVID-19 symptoms per Governor DeWine’s guidelines. If there is a change in these protocols, ArtWorks may be implemented virtually. Teaching artists should be prepared for either scenario – in-person or virtual.
The summer session runs June 21 – July 31, Monday – Friday, 9AM – 4PM. Some weekend hours may be required to prepare for our final showcase, (date TBD). It is preferred the artist have at least 3 years’ experience working with high school youth and demonstrates
proficiency in their chosen artistic discipline. Training in trauma-informed arts education, behavioral/classroom management, lesson plan building, and diversity, equity and inclusion are also preferred. A background check is required two weeks prior to the
program.
