Lorain County Community College Theatre Department is looking for students and community members to audition for its Fall Mainstage production, the dark, farcical tragedy BURIED CHILD, by the late, great American playwright Sam Shepard. The production will be directed by Terence Cranendonk.

WHEN TO BE THERE:

Monday, September 18 or

Tuesday, September 19

7-10pm

 

With possible callbacks Wednesday, September 20, 7-10pm

 

Rehearsals will begin Monday, October 1.

Performance dates are November 16, 17, and 18, 2017. If you are cast, expect to rehearse Monday through Thursday evenings, as well as Sunday afternoons, for 4 to 5 hours.

WHAT TO PREPARE:

A two-minute action about “Having a Secret”, whatever that means to you. Your action, a kind of “mini performance”, should include speaking (it can be a theatrical monologue, a poem, or a passage from a novel or short story, for example) and any special skill that you have (such as acrobatics, gymnastics, tumbling/rolling, magic, mentalism, puppetry, ventriloquism, juggling, unicycling, playing spoons, ukulele, playing a musical instrument of any kind, hula hooping, baton twirling, dancing, singing, yo-yoing, bird calling, kazoo, etc. ANYTHING YOU DO WELL) The text and the thing that you do well should be part of the same action, NOT SEPARATE—be creative. You have two minutes, not more, for your action. You may be also be asked to read selections from the script and to improvise with other members of your audition group.
