Saturday March 16th at 8:00 pm: A tribute to great John Coltrane, featuring the Ralph Moore Quartet. In addition, ticket holders can enjoy a pre-concert interview with the Quartet at 7:00 pm. Tickets: $20 general admission,

Sunday March 17th at 4:00 pm: Big Band Matinee featuring Lakeland’s Civic Jazz Orchestra and the Duquesne University Jazz Ensemble. Tickets: $10 general admission, $7 students.

What? Get Hep Swing presents - A swing dance party and concert with Red Light Roxy
When? Saturday, March 30th, 2019
Where? The Lithuanian Club, 877 E. 185th Street.
There is a parking lot behind the building and you may also park in the Key Bank or Post Office lot. Use the entrance behind the building on the far left.
Dance lessons? Yes. Join us for a beginner-friendly JITTERBUG lesson from 8-9 with Get Hep Swing owner and founder, Valerie Salstrom. You do not need to bring a dance partner for the lessons or the dance. We rotate partners during the lesson. If you prefer not to rotate dance partners, we are okay with that too. Everyone is really friendly and you will get asked to dance during the social dancing from 9-12.
Band? Cleveland favorites, Red Light Roxy. The members of this band have been keeping swing dancers happy on the dance floor for over 20 years!
Red Light Roxy is a professional band from Cleveland, Ohio that plays an upbeat mix of jazz standards, jump blues, swing, boogie-woogie and a dash of old-school R&B. Its repertoire comes from the Great American Songbook and includes familiar songs made famous by such legendary performers as Ella Fitzgerald, Ruth Brown, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and Louis Armstrong. Red Light Roxy has played at the Tri-C JazzFest, Wade Oval Wednesdays, Cain Park, Akron’s LOCK IV, the Shaker Heights Art and Music Festival, Legacy Village, Nighttown, Blu Jazz, the Bop Stop, the Rubber City Jazz Festival and a variety of city summer concerts and swing dances.
Who may attend? EVERYONE is welcome!
Do I need a partner? No, we rotate dance partners during the lesson. If you prefer not to rotate during the lesson, please help direct the other students past you each time we rotate.
What do I wear? Wear shoes that allow you to pivot and turn easily. Some people find this floor a little slow so, wearing your leather soles or slippery soled shoes might be perfect.
Attire is casual and comfy. Where what makes you feel good about yourself.
What is the cost? $12 per person. $5 for first-time attendees. No pre-event ticket sales. Pay cash at the door.
We welcome anyone to join us who has an interest in dance, music, socializing and fun. We don't care what your physical ability or size is, where you are in life, where you are on the spectrum of sexual or gender orientation, what color or creed, or non-creed, you are. Are you a man who wants to learn how to follow or a woman who wants to learn how to lead? That's cool! This idea is not new to the swing dance scene. We are the easiest club to join. If you have an interest, you are in. :)
We love spreading the gospel of swing dancing and we are excited to share the language and culture of this truly American, urban folk dance form with you. It is important for us to let you know that this dance style started in the African-American ballrooms of Harlem, New York in the late 1920s/early 1930s. You will find this dance, and the ones that came from it, incredibly expressive, empowering, beautiful, and joyful. We can't wait for you to experience this conversation of dance with us.
We make learning to partner dance easy and enjoyable. Please join us the second Friday of every month at the Lakewood Masonic Temple and the last Saturday of every month at The Lithuanian Club.

How much would you pay for a white painting? Would it matter who the painter was? Would it be art? A translation of a French-language play, Art is about one man, Serge, who buys an expensive painting, a white canvas with a few white lines, and the reactions of his friends, Marc and Yvan, to his purchase. Marc responds with shock and anger; for him, Serge's purchase of the painting is a cruel joke. Yvan tries to mediate the hostility between Serge and Marc, at the cost of redirecting them to himself. As the conversations moves from the theoretical to the personal, the three friends are forced to ask questions not only about the nature of art, but about the nature of friendship.

On Sunday, March 24, 2019, MetroHealth System will present the premiere of the Shaker Arts Council’s documentary film, Conversations in Courage: The Visit. The film, directed by Marquette Williams, depicts the events surrounding Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s 1965 visit to Shaker Heights and includes interviews with many of those involved. The film features Reverend Joan Campbell, Carole Hoover, Peter Lawson Jones, Edwina Moss and Reverend Albert Pennybacker. The premiere will be held at Tri-C East Simon and Rose Mandel Theatre, 4250 Richmond Road, Highland Hills, OH 44122.
The afternoon begins at 2:00 pm with a Director’s Reception attended by veteran Civil Rights activists featured in the film. The film begins at 3:00 pm followed by a panel conversation moderated by Dee Perry and an audience Q & A. Tickets for the pre-screening reception are $35 and include a ticket to the screening. The Walsh Jesuit High School CenterStage Theatre proudly presents its spring musical, “Hello, Dolly” March 15-24 in the school’s theater, located at 4550 Wyoga Lake Road in Cuyahoga Falls. Directed by David Banks, with music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, and book by Michael Stewart, this classic show has come to life once again through a Broadway revival and subsequent National Tour and is still going strong! There will be brand new custom costumes designed by Cherie Banks Meyers, a 24-piece orchestra, a 35 member crew, and a 30 member cast! The show is choreographed by Kim Raines Colton, with technical direction by Vincent Matia, and lighting design by Andrew Pla.
The CenterStage Theatre is participating in the 2018-2019 Playhouse Square Dazzle Awards program presented by Patricia and John Chapman. The program provides educational opportunities and recognizes excellence in Northeast Ohio high school musical theater. This production has been selected for adjudication for the Dazzle Awards.
Show times are March 15,16, 22, and 23 at 7:30pm, 16, 17, 23, and 24 at 2:00pm, and March 20 at 7:00pm. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, and $10 for students and Senior Citizens 65 or older.
