 PLAYERS GUILD THEATRE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR CABARET.

 

CANTON, OH – The Players Guild Theatre is making preparations to present the Tony Award-winning musical, CABARET.  Auditions for this theatrical tour-de-force will be held on February 12 and 13, 2017.

 

CABARET will be directed by Jon Tisevich, with choreography by Michael Lawrence Akers and music direction by Steve Parsons.  Joshua Erichsen is the Guild’s Producing Artistic Director.

 

Auditions will be held at the Players Guild Theatre, located at 1001 Market Ave., N., in the Cultural Center for the Arts, on Sunday, February 12th with available audition time slots at 7:00, 7:30, 8:00 and 8:30 PM, and again on Monday, February 13th at 8:30, 9:00, 9:30 and 10:00 PM.  Dance Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, February 14th and Principal Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, February 15th.

 

Actors are asked to please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song that best showcases their vocal ability, and bring the corresponding sheet music in the appropriate key.  An accompanist will be provided.  In addition, they are asked to bring a current photo or provide a headshot/resume if available.

 

Diverse and non-traditional casting will be considered for all roles.

 

Those wishing to audition are asked to make an appointment for an audition time slot by filling out the online audition form at www.playersguildtheatre.com/audition.

 

CABARET will be presented in the William G. Fry Theater, and is scheduled to open on Friday open March 31st and will run through April 15th, with performances on Fridays & Saturdays @ 8:00 PM and Sundays @ 2:00 PM.

 

CABARET Character Breakdown:

 

EMCEE: Male: late 20s-40s; The master of ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub. Caters to the desires of both men and women.  Very comfortable with his sexuality. Demonstrates a commanding stage presence, comedic, and lovable.  Tenor.

 

SALLY BOWLES: Female, late 20s-40s;  British headliner at the Kit Kat Klub. Quirky, gritty, beautifully broken and haunted by the dark reality of her chosen lifestyle.  Mezzo with strong belt.

 

CLIFF BRADSHAW: Male, late 20s-40s; American novelist yearning for inspiration. Longing to find purpose, companionship, and his true voice.  Bari-Tenor. 

 

FRAULEIN SCHNEIDER: Female, late 40s-late 60s; German landlady with a benevolent heart.  Very aware and anxious of the social turmoil rising in Berlin.  Alto. 

 

HERR SCHULTZ: Male, late 40s-late 60s; Jewish proprietor of a local fruit shop.  A romantic who has become smitten of Fraulein Schneider despite the racial tension.  Baritone.

 

ERNST LUDWIG: Male, late 20s-50s; friendly and likable German who befriends Cliff. Later revealed to be Nazi.  Tenor.

 

FRAULEIN KOST: Female, late 20s-40s; A coy and self assured prostitute who rents a room from Fraulein Schneider.  A Nazi sympathizer.  Mezzo. 

 

KIT KAT GIRLS: Rosie, Lulu, Frenchie/Gorilla, Texas, Fritzie/Fraulein Kost, Helga; Females, late teens – 40s; entertainers and escorts at the Kit Kat Klub.  Extremely comfortable in their own skin and with their sexuality. 

 

KIT KAT BOYS: Bobby, Victor, Hans, Herman/Max: Males, late teens – 40s; entertainers and escorts at the Kit Kat Klub.  Extremely comfortable in their own skin and with their sexuality.
