Kimberly Akimbo

Artists’ Choice: Black Box Series

Two nights only, April 4 and 5, 2017

at Coach House Theatre in Akron

Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:00 pm

Kimberly Akimbo, a quirky comedy by David Lindsay-Abaire, revolves around a sixteen-year-old girl with a rare disease which makes her age at four and a half times the normal rate.  Her mom is nutty and pregnant, her aunt is a homeless con-artist, and her dad is suspicious of her geeky new best friend. The title role is played by Maureen Estelle Guerin-Johnson, one of Coach House’s favorite actresses “of a certain age.” Also in the cast are Katie Zarecki and Jim Fippin as Kimberly’s parents, Jo McGarvey as her Aunt Debra, and Manny Liotta as her first crush, Jeff.  Coach House Theatre Artistic Director Nancy Cates directs.

This selection in “Coach House’s Artists’ Choice: Black Box Series” will play two nights only, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 4 and 5, with curtain time at 8:00 pm.  Artists’ Choice Series shows are designed to offer edgier, more contemporary fare for Coach House audiences.  All tickets are only $10, with student tickets available FREE (with ID.)  (Kimberly Akimbo contains adult language, and is not appropriate for children.)

Coach House's intimate, 93-seat theater sells out quickly, so reservations are highly recommended.
