This month's guest instructor: GRACEYN CECELIA DOWD

Graceyn is a Cleveland-based actor, choreographer, and dance instructor with deep ties to her Chicago roots. Before making Cleveland her home, she was actively involved in the Chicago theatre scene, training and performing with Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Lookingglass Theatre, and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. Trained at the renowned Hubbard Street Dance in Chicago, she brings her passion for musical theatre, tap, ballroom, jazz, and Latin dance styles to her teaching. Currently, Graceyn is finishing her degree in Theatre and Dance at Cleveland State University where she received a full-ride scholarship for acting and classical studies. Favorite credits include Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, Sabina in The Skin of Our Teeth, Sibella in A Gentleman’s Guide…, Lady Anne in Richard III, and Ibsen’s The Lady From the Sea, with performances around Cleveland at Ohio Shakespeare Festival and Great Lakes Theater.

Each session includes a dynamic warm-up to get your body moving and ready for the demands of performance.
We will break down common audition dance techniques, focusing on the essentials of musical theatre choreography, such as phrasing, style, and character work.
You’ll also learn audition combinations that mirror what you might encounter in real audition settings, with a focus on technique, performance quality, and accuracy.
This class is perfect for anyone looking to hone their dance skills, build their confidence, and feel more prepared when stepping into the audition room. Whether you're a seasoned performer or new to musical theatre dance, you'll leave feeling inspired and ready to take on your next audition with confidence!
