Technical Director

Cleveland Play House (LORT B, C, and D), America’s first regional theatre and recipient of the 2015 Regional Theatre Tony Award, is accepting applications for a Technical Director. The TD is responsible for doing cost estimates on materials and labor from designer’s drawings, drafting construction drawings and insuring that shows are built on time and on budget while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. The TD leads a shop of five I.A.T.S.E carpenters and an ATD in building, loading-in and striking a 7 show main stage season, a small children’s tour, 2 shows with the Case Western Reserve University MFA acting program and additional special events. Qualified candidates should have 3-5 years professional experience, preferably in regional theatre. Experience with VectorWorks essential. Demonstrated high level of professional experience in theatrical construction techniques, thorough knowledge of rigging techniques, skills in mechanical design and automation are required. Experience with Creative Connors automation system a plus. Position requires a highly organized person with strong communication and supervisory skills. Ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound helpful but not essential. Position is full time, year round with benefits. Salary DOE.
